A.N: This is just a silly little drabble that popped into my head. Little Ed and Al wanted to say hi and this is what they came up with. It’s for
evilchuckles because I know she’s not been feeling all that well and I worry and just want to cheer her up a little because I’m daft like that. Feel better soon okay. After all, we can’t have the better Brit feeling down :) It’s pretty much only just been finished so if there are any mistakes, let me know. I haven’t written anything in a while and I just wanted to post it before I decide it sucks and change my mind…

Ed was sick. Al hated it when Ed was sick. Some of it was to do with not being able to go out and play together (Winry was mean to him when Ed wasn’t there to take the hits) but most of it was because Al just hated to see Ed in pain.
He stood by the door frame clinging to it and watching as their mother soothed Ed’s head with a cold, damp cloth. He listened to Ed moan fitfully in his weakened state and he pulled back slightly at the sound. He wasn’t used to Ed sounding like that.
Al wanted to find a way to help Ed, comfort him but he wasn’t allowed in the room for too long because mum said she didn’t want two sick little boys on her hands (otherwise he would have dragged a cover into the room and would have camped out there until Ed was better).
His face lit up with a smile and he took off running for his room. Once there, he dug through the pile of sheets on his bed to find what he was looking for. He shouted out a yes of triumph when he finally came up with his prize.
Sliding back off the bed he padded purposefully back down the corridor to Ed’s room and carefully made his way inside. His mum looked at him, looking ready to banish him from the room until she noticed what he was carrying. She smiled a half smile and urged him forward.
Al walked quickly towards Ed’s bed and the small figure laying in it. He reached forward with his gift and tucked it in next to Ed, making sure to place it as close to the sleeping boy as possible before turning and running from the room lest he out stay his welcome.
Trisha looked down at her sleeping child and his new bed mate smiling. The faded eyes and slightly scraggy fur of the stuffed toy looked back at her seeming to smile too.

A while later…
“Al, I think this is yours.”
“No it isn’t brother, it’s yours.”
“No, I remember you lending it to me once when I was sick. I just forgot to return it.”
“You really don’t remember do you brother. You leant it to me first.” Ed looked at Al, obviously confused. “A long time ago I got really sick after staying out in the rain too long. You gave me that in an effort to bribe me into getting well again.”
Realisation dawned on Ed’s face as he remembered back to that time. Al had been really sick, mum had looked worried, Ed had felt really bad about keeping his little brother out in the rain so he had given him his favourite toy to make him get better.
“So you see, it really was yours all along, you just leant it to me when I needed it and I just gave it back when you needed it.” Al smiled warmly at Ed before wandering away, probably to find an alchemy book to read. Ed watched him until he was out of sight and then he looked down at the stuffed toy that had been his all along and he smiled.
