Title: Feb 15th
Pairing/Characters: Roy/Ed
Rating: PG
Warning: language, kissing...
Words: 392
Summary: Ed surprises Roy
A.N: I was in the shower when this bunny came to me and wouldn't sit down and sleep. Instead it just kept eating my brain so I fed the damn thing a carrot and typed it straight onto LJ. I agree wholeheartedly with Ed :D
Roy smiled as he heard his office door open. There could only be one person coming to see him at this time of night and he had to say that the break would be welcomed. Without looking up he addressed the intruder.
"What do you want Edward? It's late, you should be at the house fast asleep."
"I wanted to say something to you."
"And this is something that couldn't wait till I got home?"
"No, it had to be said just after midnight." Roy looked up at the odd words. What in the world could Ed mean by that? He watched the blond walk towards him carrying a single red rose and his breath caught slightly in his throat.
"You know Valentine's Day is officially over." Roy's voice was slightly hoarse and he struggled to keep it steady so that Ed would not notice the difference.
"That's the point." Roy was now more than a little confused.
"You'll have to explain that one for me Edward." Ed sighed dramatically, as if saying that trying to explain anything to Roy was a chore. He walked around the big desk and stood next to the older man, Roy turning in his chair to face him directly.
"I don't need a specific day to tell you how I feel about you. I don't need a card company telling me that I have to do something in a specific way, you know how I feel about being given orders. I love you every day of the year bastard and if I want to tell you that on the 15th of February instead of the 14th I damn well will. So have this rose that I bought for you on the 13th and saved for a full day and know that no matter what the calendar says, I love you." Ed leaned down and softly kissed Roy's shocked mouth, pulling away soon after. Smiling, the younger man placed the rose on Roy's desk before moving his hands to Roy's cheeks. "It's nicer if you join in you know?"
The words jolted Roy out of his shock and he smiled back at his slightly eccentric but never boring lover and when their lips met again both were active participants in this show of their love.
Roy thought that this could possibly be the best non-valentine's day ever.
