Title: The Epiphany
Pairing/Characters: Ed, Al
Rating: G
Warning: Sort of angst, bad ending
Words: 338
Summary: Ed has an epiphany
A.N: This suddenly came to me and I know I’m in hiding but I felt that I needed to share this one at least. The ending isn’t that good but I’ve played with it so much I’m afraid that if I try to play with it anymore it will get worse so you get it like this. Hope you like and it’s another 338 words to add to my NaNo word count.

Ed wondered just where the sudden insight had come from. It had hit him so hard he’d actually stopped walking while he tried to take it in. It could almost be likened to a lightening bolt to the brain but that was such a cliché and he didn’t much care for those.

It was totally one-sided. No matter how much they may flirt and play around, no matter how much effort he put in, it was all one-sided.

He loved Roy, he knew he did but it was becoming an unhealthy obsession and it needed to stop. Up until now he thought that maybe, just maybe, he’d have a chance but that clichéd lightening bolt had woken him up from his delusions.

The banter and flirting was one thing and maybe, thinking about it now, he should tone that down just a touch but anything more was probably never going to happen. He needed to move on and try to get a life. Well, as much of a life as he could considering his current quest to restore his brother’s body.

This one-sided thing was unhealthy for him, it was making him ill thinking about it and the sooner he realised that the happier he would be.

“Are you alright brother?”

Ed looked up at Al stood beside him, suddenly remembering he was there, and smiled warmly.

“Yeah Al, I’m alright now. I just got lost in thought for a second, that’s all.”

“Are you sure brother?”

“Yeah Al, I think I’ll definitely be alright from now on.”

As they began walking again in silence, Ed still smiling, Al looked a bit confused but didn’t press things any further. Ed didn’t notice the confusion though as he was still thinking about his epiphany. It might take a while for it to really sink in but once it did, Ed knew he’d be able to get on with his life. He might even find a small amount of peace and that was something he could never get enough of.
